Volleyball Recap: River Islands Extends Winning Streak to Four

River Islands waltzed into their match on Tuesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They put the hurt on the Vanguard College Prep Lions with a sharp 3-0 win. The Riptide have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Lions, too.

The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant River Islands was: they took every set by at least 11 points. The final score came out to 25-11, 25-12, 25-14.

Nikhil Raj paced River Islands' offense, picking up 11 kills. Raj got some help from Urijah DeOcampo and his 23 assists. Taray Irving controlled things from the service line, finishing with 15 aces.

River Islands pushed their record up to 13-4 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. As for Vanguard College Prep, they now have a losing record of 3-4.

Looking ahead, River Islands will be taking part in a tournament against Edison at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Vikings will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something the Riptide surely won't give up without a fight. Vanguard College Prep has already played their next game (against Humphreys Able Charter), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
