Baseball Game Preview: Blue Ridge Tigers vs. Howe Bulldogs

For the second straight game, Blue Ridge will face off against Howe. The Tigers will be playing at home against the Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Blue Ridge has four straight wins, Howe has six straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Blue Ridge's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Howe with a sharp 10-0 victory. Considering the Tigers have won six contests by more than nine runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Not much got past Gage Branch, who gave up just three hits and racked up nine Ks to keep Howe off the board. Branch is becoming a predictor of Blue Ridge's success: when he posts at least eight strikeouts the team is 2-1 (and 4-6 when he doesn't).

On the hitting side, Micah Dickerson was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Caden Brown, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and three runs.

Blue Ridge was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Howe only posted a batting average of .095.

Blue Ridge's win bumped their record up to 6-7. As for Howe, their loss dropped their record down to 9-11.
