Volleyball Game Preview: Niwot Cougars vs. Greeley Central Wildcats

The Niwot Cougars will take on the Greeley Central Wildcats at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Niwot is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Colorado's top teams: Poudre, who was ranked eighth at the time (Niwot was ranked ninth). The Cougars fell just short of the Impalas by a score of 3-2 on Tuesday.

Niwot started the match hot and won the first two sets, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 22-25, 26-28, 25-21, 25-22, 15-9.

Meanwhile, Greeley Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They came up short against Riverdale Ridge, falling 3-0.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-15, 25-19, 25-15.

Niwot's defeat dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Greeley Central, their loss dropped their record down to 2-9.

Niwot took their win against Greeley Central in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 3-0 score. Will the Cougars repeat their success, or do the Wildcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
