Baseball Recap: St. Anthony Wins Going Away Against Glenn

St. Anthony was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against Glenn on Thursday. The St. Anthony Saints blew past the Glenn Eagles 17-2. That looming 17-2 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Saints yet this season.

Benny Lane was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because St. Anthony is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 1-2 otherwise. Lane was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while going 3-for-4. That's the most runs he has posted since back in February of 2024.

In other pitching news, Anthony Reyna looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.

Back at the plate, Jason Glenn was incredible, scoring three runs while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in hits (three). Luke DeGiorgio was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

St. Anthony always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .585. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Glenn only posted an OBP of .250.

The win got St. Anthony back to even at 3-3. As for Glenn, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Anthony will venture away from home to face off against Cantwell-Sacred Heart of Mary at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Glenn, they will head out to square off against Whittier at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Glenn has given up an average of 9.8 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
