The Wickliffe Blue Devils are taking a road trip to take on the Cuyahoga Heights Red Wolves at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Wickliffe is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11.1 runs per game this season.

Wickliffe's usually-dominant pitching crew will be looking to make up for Wednesday's struggle, when Villa Angela-St. Joseph hitters got past them. The Blue Devils came up short against the Vikings on Wednesday, falling 16-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Blue Devils have suffered since May 17, 2024.

Wickliffe saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Frankie Bucar, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI and one double. Nunzio Zivnoska was another, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run.

Meanwhile, Cuyahoga Heights made easy work of Trinity on Tuesday and carried off a 15-2 win. The victory continues a trend for the Red Wolves in their matchups with the Trojans: they've now won seven in a row.

Wickliffe's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-4. As for Cuyahoga Heights, their win bumped their record up to 8-5.

Wickliffe was able to grind out a solid victory over Cuyahoga Heights when the teams last played back in April of 2024, winning 8-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Blue Devils since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
