Soccer Game Preview: Wasilla vs. Juneau-Douglas

The Wasilla Warriors will head out on the road to challenge the Juneau-Douglas Crimson Bears at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.

Wasilla is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Alaska's top teams: Colony, who was ranked fifth at the time (Wasilla was ranked third). The Warriors and the Knights finished up their contest with a 1-1 draw on Tuesday. The result (or lack thereof) was the first time Wasilla have been dealt a draw since back in April.

Meanwhile, Juneau-Douglas didn't have quite enough to beat West Valley on Saturday and fell 3-2. Juneau-Douglas have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Peyton Wheeler and Natalie Travis scored both of Juneau-Douglas' goals, bringing their combined season tally to 14 goals.

Wasilla's draw makes their record 14-3-2 this season. As for Juneau-Douglas, their loss dropped their record down to 5-7-1.

Wasilla might still be hurting after the 3-0 defeat they got from Juneau-Douglas when the teams last played back in April of 2019. Can the Warriors avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
