Soccer Game Preview: L.C. Bird vs. James River Midlothian

L.C. Bird hasn't had much luck against James River Midlothian recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Skyhawks will take on the Rapids at 7:00 p.m. James River Midlothian took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on L.C. Bird, who comes in off a win.

L.C. Bird took a three-goal defeat the last time they faced off against Powhatan, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Skyhawks narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Indians 2-1.

Meanwhile, James River Midlothian fell victim to Midlothian and their airtight defense on Tuesday. They came up short against the Trojans, falling 6-0. The loss continues a trend for James River Midlothian in their meetings with Midlothian: they've now lost three in a row.

The win got L.C. Bird back to even at 5-5. As for James River Midlothian, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-3.

L.C. Bird came out on top in a nail-biter against James River Midlothian in their previous meeting back in May of 2025, sneaking past 1-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Skyhawks since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
