Basketball Recap: Rise Academy Skates Past Cristo Rey with Ease

You can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Rise Academy's strategy against Cristo Rey on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Rise Academy Guardians blew the Cristo Rey Royals out of the water with an 81-47 final score. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 45-25.

Leading Rise Academy to victory were Devonte Atkins and Trevonte Atkins. Devonte posted 25 points and five assists, while Trevonte almost dropped a double-double on 23 points and nine assists. Devonte's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Nathaniel Seaborn, who put up 15 points and five boards.

They weren't the only one working in the assists department: Rise Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 23 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

The victory (which was Rise Academy's fourth in a row) raised their record to 10-5. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 78.8 points per game. As for Cristo Rey, their defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 0-12.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Rise Academy has already played their next game (against Life Christian Academy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Cristo Rey has also has no score uploaded for their next contest, this one against Legacy Academy.
