Basketball Recap: Ella Mcdonald Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Hopewell-Loudon

Danbury won the last time they faced Hopewell-Loudon and things went their way on Thursday too. The Danbury Lakers came out on top against the Hopewell-Loudon Chieftains by a score of 41-29. Given the Lakers' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 217th, while the Chieftains are ranked 598th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Danbury's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ella McDonald led the charge by putting up nine points in addition to five rebounds and four steals. McDonald has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Maci Brown, who posted eight points along with six boards and four steals.

The victory made it two in a row for Danbury and bumps their season record up to 12-2. As for Hopewell-Loudon, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 5-10.

Danbury will head out to face off against Lakota at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Danbury is looking to tack on another W to their six-game streak on the road. As for Hopewell-Loudon, they will be playing at home against Gibsonburg at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.
