Volleyball Recap: Fernley Gets the Win

Fernley lost to Elko back in November of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Saturday. The Vaqueros came out on top against the Indians by a score of 2-0. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Vaqueros.

While Fernley might've won, it sure wasn't easy: Elko scored at least 18 points in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 25-18.

Fernley's offense was headlined by Grace Chapin and Justice Artiaga, who picked up four kills apiece. They got some help from Alauna Escartin and her eight assists. Finally, Chapin was also a dominant defender, finishing with a team-high three blocks.

Fernley's victory bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Elko, their loss dropped their record down to 3-2.

Fernley will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Truckee at 6:00 p.m. on the 26th. As for Elko, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-0 win against Incline on the 16th.
