Baseball Recap: Cochranton Sets Scoring Season-High Against Jamestown

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Cochranton). They never let the Jamestown Muskies get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory on Wednesday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Cardinals needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.

Walker Carroll made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 17 over six innings pitched. Those 17 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 2-for-3. He has become a key player for Cochranton: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 0-5 otherwise.

In other batting news, Ben Field was a standout: he scored two runs and stole four bases while going 2-for-3. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Coleton Mattocks, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Cochranton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .588. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Cochranton's record now sits at 2-6. As for Jamestown, their loss was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-6.
