Football Recap: Clovis East Takes a Loss

Clovis East had lost three straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped down to 4-3 to make it four. They took a blow against the Central East Bengals, falling 50-20. The Timberwolves were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 50-14.

Clovis East's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lindsey Graves, who rushed for 69 yards on only nine carries, and also picked up 49 receiving yards.

As for Central East, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-1. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 48.0 points over those games.

Jelani Dippel was his usual excellent self, throwing for 426 yards and six touchdowns while completing 73.5% of his passes, and also rushing for 62 yards and one TD. Those 426 passing yards gave him a new career-high. Central East also got help from Titus Thomas, who showed off his sure hands for 121 receiving yards.

That game will pit two of the most dominant signal callers against one another: Jamie Spurgeon and Deagan Rose. Meanwhile, Central East is set to challenge their familiar foe Clovis West at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
