Softball Recap: Victoria West Comes Up Short

Victoria West was the 7-2 winner over Calhoun when they last played one another two weeks ago, but their luck changed this time around. The Victoria West Warriors fell 15-11 to the Calhoun Sandcrabs on Friday. The Warriors' defeat continues a trend for the team, making it three in a row.

Karstyn Cann was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in runs. Another player making a difference was Keyanna Fillmore, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4.

Cann wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Victoria West kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Victoria West's loss dropped their record down to 7-10. As for Calhoun, their win bumped their record up to 9-10.

Coming up, Victoria West will host Terry at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Terry has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.18 runs per game on average), something Victoria West will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Calhoun, they will head out to square off against Jones at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Calhoun has given up an average of 6.9 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
