Soccer Game Preview: Stoughton vs. Portage

The Stoughton Vikings will head out on the road to take on the Portage Warriors at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Portage took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Stoughton, who comes in off a win.

Portage better have a healthy lead at halftime, because if Stoughton's game on Saturday is any indication, that's when Stoughton really gets things going. The Vikings put the hurt on Whitewater with a sharp 3-0 victory. The match marked Stoughton's most dominant win of the season.

Meanwhile, Portage fell victim to Sauk Prairie and their airtight defense on Tuesday. They lost 14-0 to the Eagles. Portage haven't had much luck with Sauk Prairie recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Stoughton now has a winning record of 5-4-1. As for Portage, their loss dropped their record down to 0-10.

Stoughton took their victory against Portage in their previous matchup back in September of 2023 by a conclusive 4-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Vikings since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
