Baseball Recap: Rock Canyon Has No Trouble Against Douglas County

Rock Canyon's game on Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Douglas County Huskies with a sharp 8-2 win. The Jaguars haven't had any issues with the Huskies recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Jacob Woods spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on six hits and racked up six Ks. He is becoming a predictor of Rock Canyon's success: when he allows at most two earned runs the team is 4-2 (and 5-10 when he doesn't).

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Zach Perry, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. He has become a key player for Rock Canyon: the team is 7-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 2-11 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaden Montz, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI.

Rock Canyon was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. They are 4-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Rock Canyon's win bumped their record up to 9-12. As for Douglas County, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 9-11.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rock Canyon will head out to challenge Fairview at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Douglas County, they will venture away from home to face off against Horizon at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
