The Delmarva Christian Royals will head out to take on the Delmar Wildcats at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Delmarva Christian has three straight victories, Delmar has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Delmarva Christian is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Salisbury Christian 29-5 on Monday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.
Chase Hitchens was a major factor no matter where he played. He pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Andrew Collins was incredible, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs and two RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Silas Jones, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Delmarva Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Delmar fell victim to Sussex Academy and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They fell just short of the Seahawks by a score of 1-0. The matchup marked the first time this year in which the Wildcats were not able to get on the board.
Delmarva Christian's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-4. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.2 runs over those games. As for Delmar, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-9.
Delmarva Christian's speedy runners might be the difference in Wednesday's game. The Royals have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.9 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Delmar, though, as they've been averaging only 1.1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Delmarva Christian continue to outrun the ball?
Delmarva Christian came up short against Delmar when the teams last played back in May of 2024, falling 7-3. Can the Royals avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
