Softball Recap: Beamer Takes a Loss

Beamer extended their losing streak to three on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 3-8 in the process. They came up short against the Decatur Golden Gators, falling 22-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Golden Gators this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 17-4 back in March.

As for Decatur, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-3. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 21.0 runs over those games.

For Decatur's part, Kahea Sharpe made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over four innings pitched. Sharpe was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two).

In other batting news, Audrey Deviney was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with four runs, two stolen bases, and two doubles. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Sam Hackney was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs, four RBI, and one double.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Beamer will host White River at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Titans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Hornets have averaged an impressive 10 runs per game this season. As for Decatur, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Kentlake at 4:00 p.m. The Golden Gators' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Falcons have averaged an impressive 11.3 runs per game this season.
