Basketball Recap: Conner Brooks and Clayton Cooper Secure Win for La Grange

La Grange had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 23.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They managed a 50-45 victory over the Navasota Rattlers. For the Leopards, this counts as revenge for the 63-40 win the Rattlers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2023.

Leading La Grange to victory were Clayton Cooper and Conner Brooks. Cooper posted nine points along with seven rebounds and six steals, while Brooks went 7 for 13 en route to 18 points. That's the most points Brooks has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Brandon Mathis, who scored four points and 12 boards.

La Grange's victory bumped their record up to 17-8. As for Navasota, their loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 16-8.

The future could be bright for both La Grange and Navasota: their next opponents haven't had the best luck recently. La Grange will look to extend Smithville's ten-game losing streak when the meet at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Navasota will try to hand Giddings their 11th-straight defeat when the two meet at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
