Baseball Recap: Rockingham County Comes Up Short

Rockingham County couldn't beat Northern Guilford on Wednesday even though they stacked five runs on them in the sixth inning. The Cougars fell just short of the Nighthawks by a score of 6-5. The Cougars have struggled against the Nighthawks recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.

Bryson Apple was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run. Gauge Rakestraw was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Rockingham County's defeat dropped their record down to 11-5. As for Northern Guilford, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Rockingham County will venture away from home to challenge Morehead at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Northern Guilford, they will head out to face off against Southern Guilford at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
