Baseball Game Preview: St. Mark's Lions vs. Governor's Academy Governors

The St. Mark's Lions are taking a road trip to take on the Governor's Academy Governors at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Winchendon hit St. Mark's with a four-run sixth inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Lions came up short against the Wapiti, falling 11-4. The defeat continues a trend for the Lions in their meetings with the Wapiti: they've now lost five in a row.

Meanwhile, Governor's Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Noble & Greenough.

Governor's Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 4-4. As for St. Mark's, their loss dropped their record down to 4-3-1.

St. Mark's took their win against Governor's Academy in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 11-4 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lions since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
