Basketball Game Preview: Hibriten Panthers vs. Alexander Central Cougars + Official Tickets

The Hibriten Panthers will head out to challenge the Alexander Central Cougars at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Hibriten is headed out to face Alexander Central after opening their season at home and giving their fans just what they were looking for. The Panthers enjoyed a cozy 55-39 win over Watauga on Tuesday.

Hibriten's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Zoe Rector, who went 8-for-15 en route to 19 points. That's the most points Rector has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Aamori Patterson, who shot 56% from the field on her way to 12 points in addition to five assists and three blocks.

Meanwhile, Alexander Central was able to grind out a solid win over East Burke on Tuesday, taking the game 63-50. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Cougars.

Hibriten better keep an eye on Meredith Wike. She was instrumental in Alexander Central's win, putting up 36 points and seven boards. Wike's big performance that evening made it five games in a row in which she has scored at least 16 points. Another player making a difference was Malayah Adams, who scored seven points along with eight assists and five rebounds.

Alexander Central was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as East Burke only posted six.

Hibriten came up short against Alexander Central in their previous matchup back in February, falling 38-30. Can the Panthers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
