Volleyball Recap: Mckenzie Durbin's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Northside over Veterans

Northside was the 2-0 winner over Veterans when they last played one another back in September of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Patriots fell just short of the Warhawks by a score of 2-1 on Thursday. The Patriots have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Northside might've come up short, but they didn't make it easy on Veterans: every set was decided by two points or less. The final score came out to 22-25, 27-25, 15-13.

Northside lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Mckenzie Durbin, who had 20 digs and two aces. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 10.9 digs per game. Another player making a difference was Lacie Watts, who had 23 assists and two blocks.

Grace Lamontagne was a one-woman wrecking crew For Veterans. as she had 14 assists and 11 digs. What's more, Lamontagne posted four kills, the most she's had since back in August of 2024.

Northside's loss dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Veterans, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 4-1.

Coming up, Northside will challenge Lakeside at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Veterans, they will face off against Academy for Classical Education at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday.
