Basketball Recap: Asheboro Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Asheboro had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 19 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 57-43 victory over the Central Davidson Spartans. This was a revenge game for the Blue Comets: when they faced off against the Spartans back in January, they had to take a 58-46 defeat.

Asheboro had a senior duo take command as Jalial Timmons went 7 for 12 on his way to 22 points and Elijah Woodle went 6 of 14 to rack up 17 points and seven assists. What's more, Timmons also posted a 58% shooting accuracy, which is the highest he's posted since back in January of 2024. Another player making a difference was Osiris Rodriguez, who posted four points and nine boards.

Asheboro smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in four consecutive matches.

Asheboro's win bumped their record up to 12-6. As for Central Davidson, their loss was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 9-9.
