Recap: Skyline Coyotes vs. Sunnyslope Vikings
After flying high against the Gilbert Tigers last Friday, The Skyline Coyotes came back down to earth. Skyline took a 42-38 hit to the loss column at the hands of Sunnyslope. Skyline gained 260 more yards on the day, but it was Sunnyslope that made the best of use of them.
When it comes to explaining why Skyline lost on Friday, one person who can't be blamed is Jordan Blake. Despite the final result, he rushed for 302 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.4 yards per carry. Another player making a difference was Alexander Cook, who picked up 44 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
It was another big night for Luke Moga, who rushed for 46 yards and three touchdowns, and also threw for 103 yards and three touchdowns. Moga hasn't dropped below three passing touchdowns for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Aleck Vargas, who rushed for 152 yards.
Skyline's loss dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Sunnyslope, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-4.
Skyline does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Sunnyslope will head out on the road to face off against Notre Dame Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Notre Dame Prep is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home.
