Baseball Game Preview: Green River Pirates vs. Altamont Longhorns

Green River is 0-6 against Altamont since August of 2021 but things could change on Tuesday. The Pirates will square off against the Longhorns at 4:00 p.m.

Green River had taken Pinnacle down for two straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Friday. The Pirates fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 6-5.

Jason Hernandez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered six runs (all of which were unearned) on seven hits and racked up nine Ks.

On the hitting side, Rolando Anguiano made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with four stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. David Mendez was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one triple and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Altamont made easy work of Wayne on Saturday and carried off a 9-3 victory. The Longhorns might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by six runs or more this season.

Altamont also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and he was also dialed-in: Parker Harrison gave up only one earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits.

At the plate, Keaton Huff was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in August of 2024. Another player making a difference was Harrison Lounsbury, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs and two RBI.

Altamont kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Altamont's win bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Green River, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Green River suffered a grim 8-2 defeat to Altamont in their previous meeting on Tuesday. Can the Pirates avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
