Softball Game Preview: Franklin Wildcats vs. Chaminade Julienne Catholic Eagles

The Franklin Wildcats will face off against the Chaminade Julienne Catholic Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Franklin is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.

Mount Notre Dame hit Franklin with a five-run fourth inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Wildcats came up short against Mount Notre Dame, falling 9-2.

Adrian Allen was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one home run.

Meanwhile, it was close, but on Thursday Chaminade Julienne Catholic sidestepped Fairborn for a 9-8 victory.

Aubrey Kolton made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out 15 batters over seven innings while giving up eight earned runs off eight hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 12 consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mariem Mezni, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs. Kaylee McGrath was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two triples and two RBI.

Chaminade Julienne Catholic is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 13 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-10 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games. As for Franklin, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-9.

Franklin took their victory against Chaminade Julienne Catholic when the teams last played back in May of 2018 by a conclusive 10-0 score. Will the Wildcats repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
