Softball Recap: Northwest Christian Has No Trouble Against Tuba City

Northwest Christian had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They blew past the Tuba City Warriors 22-5 on Thursday.

Caylie Thomas made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the first time she hasn't allowed a single hit since back in March of 2024. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring four runs and stealing a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.

In other batting news, Northwest Christian got a massive performance out of Kinsey Unger, who scored four runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. The dominant performance gave Unger a new career-high in runs. Ella Reuter was another key player, scoring four runs and stealing a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.

Northwest Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in 11 consecutive games dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Northwest Christian will square off against Blue Ridge at 11:00 a.m. on Friday. As for Tuba City, they will head out on the road to challenge Snowflake at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
