Baseball Recap: Booker T. Washington Takes a Loss

Booker T. Washington extended their losing streak to four on Thursday, dropping them down to 1-6. They lost 24-0 to the Montgomery Catholic Knights. The Golden Eagles were not able to make up for their defeat to the Knights from their previous meeting back in March of 2024.

As for Montgomery Catholic, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.9 runs over those games.

For Montgomery Catholic's part, Christian Alvarez and Will Blackwell made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Alvarez tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Blackwell pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. At bat, Alvarez went 1-for-3 with two runs, while Blackwell got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jordan Jackson, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Sal Barranco, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Montgomery Catholic beat Booker T. Washington by a score of 12-0 later that day.
