Softball Recap: Grossmont Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Grossmont entered their tilt with Monte Vista on Wednesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They never let the Monarchs get on the board and left with a 13-0 win. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 14-2 back in April.

Nakhia Lee was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three runs and one double.

In other batting news, Grossmont let Ashley Beard and Heidi Villa run wild. Beard went 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double, while Villa got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Jules Short also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Grossmont hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in eight consecutive matches.

Grossmont's record now sits at 10-15-1. As for Monte Vista, their defeat was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-16.

Coming up, Grossmont will venture away from home to take on Helix at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Foothillers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Highlanders have averaged an impressive 10.9 runs per game this season. Monte Vista does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
