Even though they lost, Falkville was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .417. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .318 or higher in three consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Decatur Heritage Christian Academy). They blew past St. John Paul II 16-8 on Monday. The win continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Falcons: they've now won six in a row.
Marissa Adams made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed five innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one walk in 16 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-5. What's more, she posted three RBI, the most she's had since back in February.
In other batting news, Allie Tidwell was a standout: she went 4-for-5 with five RBI, three runs, and one double. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Savannah Sims, who scored four runs and stole Two bases. while going 5-for-6.
Falkville's defeat dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Decatur Heritage Christian Academy, their record is now 7-9-1.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Falkville hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .391. However, it's not like Decatur Heritage Christian Academy struggles in that department as they've averaged .414. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
