Preview: Arapahoe Warriors vs. Southern Valley Eagles

Arapahoe is 1-9 against Southern Valley since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Arapahoe Warriors on the road again and play against the Southern Valley Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on January 26th. Hopefully Arapahoe focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Tuesday.

Last Tuesday, Arapahoe came up short against Cambridge and fell 48-40. Arapahoe has struggled against Cambridge recently, as their contest on Tuesday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Despite their defeat, Arapahoe saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. William Cacy, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and two steals, was perhaps the best of all. Trenton Roskop was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with five rebounds.

Meanwhile, Southern Valley struggled with three-point shooting accuracy on Tuesday (Alma was 22% better) and sadly the final score reflected it. Southern Valley took a 55-43 hit to the loss column at the hands of Alma.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Isaac Hamilton, who scored 17 points. Another player making a difference was Tylor Grove, who scored nine points along with 11 rebounds.

Arapahoe has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-9 record this season. As for Southern Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 8-8.

This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Arapahoe have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 29.7 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Southern Valley struggles in that department as they've been averaging 29.9 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.

Arapahoe came up short against Southern Valley in their previous matchup on Thursday, falling 49-36. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Grove, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
