Football Recap: ALA - Queen Creek's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Saturday

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact ALA - Queen Creek can now relate to. They took a 40-35 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Basha Bears. The defensive woes were uncharacteristic for the Patriots, who until this game were averaging 11.92 points allowed.

Several Patriots players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Britt Dewitt, who threw for 377 yards and five touchdowns while completing 79.5% of his passes. Boe Sparks did his part for the team as well, scoring a TD off of 151 receiving yards.

Even if they lost, ALA - Queen Creek's defensive line still kept up the pressure with four sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Corde Nunnery and Talon Roit, who racked up all four sacks between them. With that strong performance, Roit is now averaging an impressive 5.3 total tackles per game. ALA - Queen Creek got some further help from Eli Shaver: he made 13 total tackles (2.0 for loss).

Basha's win on Saturday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Noah Roberts, who rushed for 89 yards and one touchdown, and also picked up 31 receiving yards and one touchdown. Another player making a difference was Joshua Gaines, who rushed for 107 yards and two touchdowns.
