Softball Recap: Plant Makes It Four in a Row on the Road

Plant won the last time they faced Lennard and things went their way on Saturday too. The Plant Panthers put the hurt on the Lennard Longhorns with a sharp 13-2 win. Considering the Panthers have won four games by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Gigi Cozzens spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on six hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kate Compton, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Lila Arcos also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

Compton wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Plant kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. Plant is a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Plant pushed their record up to 6-3 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 6.5 runs. As for Lennard, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3.

The future could be bright for both Plant and Lennard: their next opponents haven't had the best luck recently. Plant will try to hand Bloomingdale their fourth-straight defeat when the two meet at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Similarly, Lennard will look to extend Brandon's six-game losing streak when they meet at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
