Football Game Preview: Schuylkill Valley Panthers vs. Annville-Cleona Dutchmen

The Schuylkill Valley Panthers will head out on the road to square off against the Annville-Cleona Dutchmen at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

On Friday, Schuylkill Valley didn't have too much trouble with Hamburg as they won 31-13. The Panthers have beaten the Hawks the last four times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Hawks has come to flipping the script.

Meanwhile, Annville-Cleona's game on Friday was all tied up 7-7 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They blew past Pequea Valley 35-14.

Schuylkill Valley better keep an eye on Hudson Sellers. He was instrumental in Annville-Cleona's win, rushing for 104 yards and a pair of TDs. Sellers didn't just play on offense: he also picked up two sacks and made 12 total tackles (4.0 for loss). John Ditzler was another key player, rushing for 11 yards and one touchdown.

Annville-Cleona was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 248 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 232 rushing yards in six consecutive games.

Annville-Cleona's defense made their presence known, laying out the QB five times. Leading the way was Sellers with two sacks. Annville-Cleona got some further help from Kaidavin Ginting: he made 12 total tackles (3.0 for loss).

Schuylkill Valley's record now sits at 5-3. As for Annville-Cleona, their record is now 7-1.

Schuylkill Valley took their win against Annville-Cleona in their previous matchup back in October of 2024 by a conclusive 49-28 score. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was the Dutchmen's Jonathon Shay, who rushed for 84 yards and one score, and also picked up 35 receiving yards and one TD. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be easier for the Panthers to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
