Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask San Gorgonio). They breezed past the Fontana Steelers to the tune of 40-6 on Monday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Spartans needed considering they were shut out in their previous match.
Izel Frias was the offensive standout of the game as she rushed for 33 yards and one TD, and also threw for 97 yards and a pair of touchdowns. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in passer rating (89). Ava Bogarin got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
San Gorgonio didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off eight passes before the game was over. Bogarin led the group effort, picking up five of those interceptions all by herself. Daisy Serrano has become a key player for San Gorgonio: the team is 3-1 when she posts at least one interception, but 2-6 otherwise. Bogarin got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
