Volleyball Recap: Tolman Falls Short Against Ranked Classical

Tolman faced Classical in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Tigers fell just short of the Purple by a score of 3-2. The Tigers' loss signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.

Tolman couldn't get the win, but they sure gave Classical a tough time in the fourth set. The final score came out to 25-16, 23-25, 18-25, 30-28, 15-13.

Hayson Ortiz paced Tolman's offense, picking up 22 kills. Ortiz got some help from Jean-Lucas Barroso and his 41 assists. Finally, Ortiz was also a dominant defender, finishing with a team-high four blocks.

Tolman's defeat dropped their record down to 6-2. As for Classical, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 5-2.

Coming up, Tolman will take on Westerly at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The Bulldogs will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Tigers surely won't give up without a fight. As for Classical, they will challenge Bishop Hendricken at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
