Volleyball Recap: Fairmont Now 8-1 over Last Nine Games

Centerville came into Thursday's matchup looking for another win against Fairmont, but Sandler Miranda wouldn't allow it. The Firebirds came out on top against the Elks by a score of 3-1 on Thursday for which the team can thank Miranda, who had 26 assists and six digs. He has been hot, having posted 12 or more assists the last five times he's played.

While Fairmont might've won, it sure wasn't easy: Centerville scored at least 20 points in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 25-21, 17-25, 25-20.

Fairmont's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Owen Castle led the charge by getting 17 digs and two assists. That's the most digs Castle has posted over his last seven games.

Fairmont has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-2 record this season. As for Centerville, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-12.

Fairmont has already played their next match, a 2-1 victory against La Salle on the 26th. As for Centerville, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 3-0 win against Wayne on the 29th.
