Soccer Game Preview: Sonora vs. Hilmar

The Sonora Wildcats will square off against the Hilmar Yellowjackets at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Last Friday, Sonora didn't have quite enough to beat Orestimba and fell 2-1.

Sonora used a slightly different lineup for their bout with Orestimba. Three players got more time on the pitch than they're used to: Joseph Pink (80), Samuel Villafana (80), and Kenyon Nickols (80). The trio had averaged 40.8, 54.2, and 50 minutes respectively before Friday's match. Villafana made the most of the opportunity, scoring a goal A few more games like that and he might be seeing even more time going forward.

Meanwhile, Hilmar has been on a difficult stretch since their win on the third. They and Escalon finished up their game with a 0-0 draw on Friday. That draw made it three straight for the Yellowjackets.

Hilmar's draw gives them a new season record of 6-5-5. As for Sonora, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season.
