Note: John Giannantonio of Netcong (N.J.) is listed in the National Federation of High Schools Record Book with an average of 596 "rushing" yards per game in 1950 with 4,756 yards in eight games. However, multiple sources list the 4,756 yards as "all-purpose" yards, not rushing yards. Giannantonio reportedly had over 3,000 yards rushing in 1950, which would give him over 375 yards rushing per game, but his exact total of rushing yards is unknown.
