Urban Meyer and Ohio State picked up their second verbal commitment in the Class of 2018 on Friday morning as quarterback Emory Jones of Heard County (Franklin, Ga.) made an early decision.

Steve Wiltfong of 247Sports was among those reporting the development, which comes on the heels of a trip to Columbus last weekend.

The 6-foot-4, 190-pound signal caller is pegged as the No. 34 overall recruit in the 2018 class by 247Sports. He put up modest numbers as a sophomore in a run-heavy offense at Heard County but all signs point to a big junior campaign.

Jones also started on the Heard County basketball team in 2015-16, averaging 9.5 points, 3.9 rebounds and 1.4 steals per game.

Clemson, Georgia and Tennessee were also heavily involved in Jones' recruitment. Ohio State's other 2018 pledge is from running back Brian Snead of Armwood (Seffner, Fla.).
