Basketball Game Preview: Piedra Vista Panthers vs. Rio Rancho Rams

Piedra Vista is 0-10 against Rio Rancho since January of 2015 but things could change on Thursday. The Piedra Vista Panthers will be playing at home against the Rio Rancho Rams at 7:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Piedra Vista is headed into Thursday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Tuesday. They came up short against Cleveland, falling 80-58. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Mexico basketball rankings (they are ranked 81st, while the Storm are ranked fourth).

Meanwhile, Rio Rancho was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They fell 70-60 to Cibola.

Rio Rancho's loss dropped their record down to 11-8. As for Piedra Vista, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-12.

Piedra Vista was dealt a bruising 88-39 loss at the hands of Rio Rancho in their previous matchup back in January of 2020. Thankfully for Piedra Vista, Vance Rudolph (who went 7 of 10 on his way to 21 points and four steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
