Softball Recap: Butler Beats Green Ridge for Their Third Straight Victory

While Butler's victory against Green Ridge wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Bears narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Tigers 7-6. The victory was nothing new for the Bears as they're now sitting on three straight.

Kylee Dubray made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. That double marked the first that she has hit this season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Taylor Hudson, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Sydney Davis was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Butler always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Green Ridge only posted an OBP of .241.

Butler's win bumped their record up to 8-6. As for Green Ridge, their loss dropped their record down to 7-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Butler will welcome Osceola at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Green Ridge, they will host Leeton at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (the Tigers have won four straight at home, while the Bulldogs won four straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
