Johnny Ortegae was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off four hits.

At the plate, Monsignor Bonner/Archbishop Prendergast Catholic saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ryan Friel, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.

Meanwhile, Marple Newtown gave up the first runs on Wednesday, but they didn't let that get them down. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 victory over Penncrest. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Fightin' Tigers.

Monsignor Bonner/Archbishop Prendergast Catholic beat Marple Newtown 11-6 in their previous meeting back in April of 2021. The rematch might be a little tougher for Monsignor Bonner/Archbishop Prendergast Catholic since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around.
