Baseball Recap: Reading Red KNights vs. Wyomissing Spartans
Reading had lost three straight at home, but on Monday they dropped down to 8-11 to make it four. They lost 9-0 to the Wyomissing Spartans. The Red KNights were not able to make up for their defeat to the Spartans from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.
Reading saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Adrian Gonzalez, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one double. That double was Gonzalez's first of the season.
As for Wyomissing, their record now sits at 11-8. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by seven runs or more this season.
On Wyomissing's side, not much got past Noah Rauenzahn, who gave up just four hits to keep Reading off the board.
At the plate, Wyomissing got a big performance out of Teddy White, who went 3-for-5 with two RBI and one double. White has become a key player for the Spartans: the team is undefeated when he posts at least three hits, but 7-8 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Curran Cirulli, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Reading will welcome Berks Catholic at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Blue Jays will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something the Red KNights surely won't give up without a fight. As for Wyomissing, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Lancaster Catholic at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday.
