Basketball Recap: Althoff Catholic Piles Up the Points Against Metro-East Lutheran

Althoff Catholic won the last time they faced Metro-East Lutheran and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Althoff Catholic Crusaders took their match with ease, bagging a 53-21 victory over the Metro-East Lutheran Knights. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 31-7.

Amalia Distler had an outrageously good game as she went 8-for-14 to rack up 20 points along with six boards and six steals. She has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last ten times she's played. Another player making a difference was Kamora Davis, who posted 12 points and six rebounds.

Althoff Catholic smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Metro-East Lutheran only pulled down seven offensive rebounds.

Despite the defeat, Metro-East Lutheran saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Emily Kober earned four points and eight boards. That's the most rebounds Kober has posted since back in January.

Althoff Catholic is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a massive bump to their 14-14 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.2 points over those games. As for Metro-East Lutheran, their loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-28.

Looking ahead, Althoff Catholic will take on Red Bud at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Metro-East Lutheran, they have already played their next matchup, a 2-0 win against Christ Our Rock Lutheran on the 13th.
