Basketball Game Preview: Timnath Cubs vs. Berthoud Spartans

The Timnath Cubs will venture away from home to face off against the Berthoud Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Timnath will be strutting in after a win while Berthoud will be coming in after a defeat.

On Tuesday, Timnath was fully in charge, breezing past Wellington 62-33. The Cubs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine contests by 20 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Berthoud came up short against Northridge on Saturday and fell 55-43. The Spartans haven't had much luck with the Grizzlies recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Timnath will have to contain Avery Pfohl as she made an impact in Berthoud's last game. She posted 17 points and eight boards. Pfohl's big performance that afternoon made it six games in a row in which she has scored at least 16 points. Kaylee Padilla was another key player, putting up eight points.

Timnath pushed their record up to 19-3 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.3 points over those games. As for Berthoud, their loss dropped their record down to 13-9.

Timnath was able to grind out a solid win over Berthoud in their previous matchup back in January, winning 57-45. The rematch might be a little tougher for Timnath since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
