Basketball Recap: Mt. Zion Drops Season-High Score on Trion

Mt. Zion is still winless after their matchup against Trion on Tuesday, but the team can take solace in the fact it was the closest they've come to winning. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 59-56 heartbreaker at the hands of the Bulldogs. On the bright side, the 56- point effort marked the Eagles' highest-scoring contest to date.

Mt. Zion's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Kevontay Cousins, who posted 15 points, and Avery Butler, who put up 13 points. Cousins continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaiah Hindsman, who earned eight points.

Mt. Zion's record is now 0-7. As for Trion, their win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-4.

Looking ahead, Mt. Zion will take on Central in a tournament on Thursday. The Eagles will be up against the Lions' rather soft defense (which has allowed 66 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. Trion will take on Excel Christian Academy in a holiday battle at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
