Preview: Chandler Prep Titans vs. Tempe Prep Knights
Chandler Prep is 8-2 against Tempe Prep since February of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Chandler Prep Titans will head out on the road to face off against the Tempe Prep Knights at 7:00 p.m. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Chandler Prep waltzed into their match on Friday with two straight wins but they left with three. They escaped with a win against Santa Cruz Valley by the margin of a single free throw, 55-54.
It was another big night for Noah Ruiz, who scored 23 points along with five rebounds and four steals. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last ten times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Caleb So, who scored 13 points.
Meanwhile, Tempe Prep had to endure an eight-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Sequoia Pathway Academy 60-12 on the road. The victory was just what Tempe Prep needed coming off of a 74-40 loss in their prior matchup.
Chandler Prep has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season. As for Tempe Prep, their victory ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-12.
Everything came up roses for Chandler Prep against Tempe Prep in their previous meeting on January 5th as the squad secured a 66-27 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Chandler Prep since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
