The Caldwell Hornets will face off against the La Grange Leopards at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Caldwell is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7 runs per game this season.

On Tuesday, Caldwell didn't have quite enough to beat Smithville and fell 4-2. That's two games in a row now that the Hornets have lost by exactly two runs.

Meanwhile, La Grange unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 7-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of Giddings.

Madi Adams made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was her first of the season. Landri Hernandez was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

This is the second loss in a row for Caldwell and nudges their season record down to 12-10-1. Even worse, they were so close both times: the losses came by an average of only two runs. As for La Grange, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-8.

Caldwell was able to grind out a solid win over La Grange when the teams last played back in April of 2024, winning 9-4. Will the Hornets repeat their success, or do the Leopards have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
