The Benson Bobcats are taking a road trip to square off against the Willcox Cowboys at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Willcox will be up against a hot Benson squad: the team just extended their winning streak to four. Everything went the Bobcats' way against Santa Rita on Tuesday as they made off with a 21-1 win.
Mandy Watson was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Millie Kellogg was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kaylei Taylor, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.
Meanwhile, Willcox had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Monday. Everything went their way against the Dust Devils as they made off with an 11-5 victory. Willcox's win was all the more impressive since the Dust Devils were averaging only four runs allowed on the season.
The team relied heavily on Nataly Thompson, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Bennett, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.
Willcox was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .435. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .304 or higher in five consecutive games.
Willcox's record now sits at 11-7. As for Benson, the victory got them back to even at 9-9.
Benson came up short against Willcox when the teams last played back in April of 2024, falling 19-16. Can the Bobcats avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
